Exciting News for Jess and Room 9

Yesterday I checked my email and discovered I had a VERY exciting email that I must share with you!

Kia ora Rachel,

Thank you for entering your students' work into the Scholastic Reviews Competition. Your student Jess P has won her age section (age 5-7) of the competition, and I will be sending out her pack of books early next week.

I will also be putting this review online, and will let you know when this is put up.

Kind regards,

Sarah Forster
Education Manager

Well done Jess!! We are very proud of you!

Here is Jess's winning book review:
Book Review: "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney.

I think this is a very good book. It is about two boys, Greg and Rowley, they are best friends.
Greg is mischievous, sneaky and cheeky. Every day Greg’s Dad makes him go outside to do sport. But, Greg would just go to Rowley’s.

Rowley is sensible, kind and also silly. He has funny ideas. He is at an intermediate school but knows nothing more than a 7 year old. Rowley has a Dad that won’t let him play anything that is violent.

This book is about how they break up and make up.
How there is a piece of cheese on the court and nobody will go near it.

I feel happy about reviewing this book; it is a very cool book.

Kiwiana Sharing

We brought in some items from our homes that we thought were Kiwiana. We shared these with the class and talked about why these items are Kiwiana. Why do you think they are Kiwiana?

Ticket out the Door - Reflecting on our learning.

We have started a new system in Room 9 to reflect on our learning. Once or twice a week Miss H will ask us to reflect on our learning. She will ask us a question such as "What was something you learnt today?" or "What was your most enjoyable part of the day and why?" or "Give an example of when you used an A+ characteristic today".

We are just starting out. Below is a photo to show you what it looks like - we had to answer the question "What was your favourite part of the day?" Our next step is to justify our answers.
